Ahoy! It's Ryan, ExP's Founder and Director of Performance. Here's the lowdown on me- who I am, where I'm from, my experience, what I do and some extra tid-bit's that you may or may not care about.
I've been coaching athletes, training clients, and consulting on human performance since 2015. Honestly, there's nothing else I'd rather be doing. Explore Performance has been my brainchild since volunteering to work with my first clients immediately after college. I've worked across the country from New York City, to Tampa FL, Phoenix AZ and Springfield MA, with any client who wanted to train. From badass Grandma's, NFL studs, club volleyball teams, overweight desk jockeys and MLB offseason groups, I've earned some pretty awesome experience in this space that I'm stoked to share with the ExP community! Born and raised in rural New York, I worked on a dairy farm in high school. I'm a Lord of the Rings nerd and listen to jazz regularly. Gandalf is OP. I love competing, lifting heavy weights, playing soccer, snowboarding and mountain biking. I'm a former collegiate oarsmen, current rec-league all-star and lifelong learner with a passion for human performance and a desire to empower busy professionals, athletes, and explorers to be better at what they LOVE doing through training, nutrition and recovery practices. I'm a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, a USA-Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, Online Trainer Academy Certified, and a United States directory listed Performance Coach on USREPS.org. I've worked extensively with NFL and MLB athletes, competed in elite levels of collegiate rowing and club soccer, dabbled in bodybuilding and 3-on-3 basketball, and have rehabbed myself back from 2 ACL reconstructive surgeries to Deadlift over 430# and run a sub-5:30 mile. I now train for peak performance, handstand-walking, dunking, mountain sports, backflips, and khaki-busting calves. AMEN! Still here? Crazy story- I actually graduated college with a degree in Finance & Corporate Accounting! And after interning my junior year I secured a lucrative position on Wall Street in NYC. Unfulfilled and constantly pulled to explore human-performance-land, I chose another path: devoting myself to learning all I possibly could about fitness, coaching, nutrition and recovery. I stay up late nerding about training in order to craft a training experience that's innovative, adaptable and grounded in both practical experience and the latest research. The result is Explore Performance- a platform, system and programming designed for clients ready to cut the guesswork and are looking for a full service training program that drives sustainable results through coaching and accountability. I love jazz, mountaintops, ribeye steak, dancing and a lightly roasted coffee. See ya in the dojo. Ryan |
