jason w, police officer, wilkes barre paWhen I first started I was a little apprehensive because it was much different than how I normally train. With Ryan's program I was hitting multiple body parts every workout, gaining size and strength. I started out the program at 195lbs and ended at 203lbs that’s obviously not all muscle gain but I definitely saw a massive increase in strength and over all core strength.
I competed in a powerlifting competition and was doing standing shoulder press and wasn’t able to rep out 135 as easy I was able to do after this program. I spoke with Ryan multiple times throughout the six week program. I reached out to him about me throwing in leg workouts since the program was based on upper body. He said absolutely and we worked it out. In my powerlifting meet this past summer I squatted 430 for my final attempt and in the gym my squat PR was 455 about 3/4 of the way through this program I decided I wanted to test my Max’s again. I slammed out a 475 single on squat. I think the added core from the program definitely contributed. |

Working with different trainers in past, they wouldn’t even pay attention to the movements or do any actual work. They would talk to friends and text. I was afraid trainers wouldn’t individually work with me.
Ryan always took care to stress proper movement with me and everyone else. My goals were to build lower body strength to help with knee pain, establish consistency with workouts and lose weight. Because of Ryan's programming and coaching, I have much better leg strength, balance and am more consistent getting to the gym.

Ryan is a great coach and has helped me accomplish many things throughout my athletic career, like getting my first muscle up and learning double-unders. He has programmed for me for several years. His programming has had a huge impact on my performance and I don’t think I would be at the level I am now without the great coaching Ryan has given me.

Ben Bunn, owner & founder of Cigar city crossfit, tampa flRyan worked with us for just over a year. During that time he consistently displayed the qualities and work ethic I associate with fitness professionals in the top of their field. He was competent as a coach on the floor with comprehensive knowledge of both NSCA standards and CrossFit. He was able to easily coach groups or individuals to include training specialty classes and providing individual programming and design for his personal training and remote athletes.
Ryan was also a significant contributor to administrative functions in the organization and displayed the quotient to take on almost any task that was assigned to him. He is consistent, diligent and hard working. Had he not left the organization, I would've groomed him for a management position inside the organization. |
karen t, tennis athlete, phoenix azRyan is a great trainer! He really listens to your goals and holds you accountable to meet those goals. He doesn’t use shame or “tough love” tactics like other trainers I've had. He encourages you and continues to be sure that you are making progress and makes adjustments as needed. He met and exceeded my expectations. I improved in every way. I lost weight, gained strength and endurance, moved way better, my back pain resolved and I gained a ton of confidence both as an athlete but personally as well. Also, I loved how much of a stickler he is for technique. NO INJURIES under his watch!!
Ryan is an amazing athlete and coach. He practices what he preaches and sets an example every time he's on the floor working out or coaching. Thanks Ryan!! |

I was never a gym person. My experience with Ryan as coach and personal trainer has made the gym fun and less intimidating. His attention to detail and proper form has helped build a foundation that i can use in the future.

Ryan helped me drastically improve my gymnastic skills, my deadlift and squat have gotten much stronger, and my aerobic base has improved a ton as well.
I am so thankful and lucky that I crossed paths with Ryan when I did. I was looking to start competing in CrossFit since it was what I loved doing but I didn't know where to start or how to get there. Ryan helped me target my weaknesses physically and mentally. Through his coaching I felt valued, believed in, and knew that he had my best interest in mind. He encouraged me to sign up for any competition I wanted, even if I didn't feel "ready", and helped me prepare for them as best as I could.
After competing, my goals changed to become a Navy Rescue Swimmer. Ryan made this transition really smooth for me and his attitude never changed. He helped me shift my training to fit these new goals and always encouraged me. Even though I don't see Ryan every day like I did in Phoenix, I still look up to and aspire to be a coach like him one day. I admire and appreciate his eagerness to continue learning and improving his craft. Coaches like Ryan are few and far between.

I DID A TEAM COMPETITION AND DIDN'T DIE
Ryan does a great job giving clients a focus to work on in a group setting, no matter if they're new, injured or training for something specific. It’s difficult when there are a range of abilities in a group, but Ryan always did a great job engaging with everyone and keeping the coaching relevant.

As a former professional Track and Field athlete, I've developed a few imbalances, mainly upper-body wise. The nature of the game and the price to pay for professional sports is compromise of realms outside of your singular sport. Ryan's eight-week program provided an in-depth and sensible approach to fixing many of my imbalance issues. The incorporated unilateral, rotational, and anti-rotational work just made sense. As a coach to professional athletes myself, I can appreciate that.
If you're on the fence about Ryan's abilities and capability, I'm telling you to make the leap. The worst that could happen is that you end up better looking and stronger.

I'm grateful for all the time Ryan spent with me individually, improving HSPU's and Double Unders. Ryan has an amazing ability to encourage and motivate clients with great attention to detail. He truly wants the best for his clients.

I absolutely LOVED it (Bulletproof Online Program). It made me challenge myself with weights and push myself to become stronger.
Results, I found myself being able to do things I've never been able to do before like pull-ups and wall walks. It also taught me a lot that I will incorporate into workouts for my clients. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this!

thomas g, college soccer, norton maAfter an impulsive move down to Florida, I found myself scrambling to find a gym to continue to workout and work towards my goal of being ready for my collegiate soccer season. Upon finding a new gym, Ryan was one of the first people that I met there. I had kept in the back of my head, the idea of having a personal trainer so they could help me work out specific movements and training that would really fine-tune my speed, agility, and fitness while also building the muscle I need that would last me through the season. After just speaking to Ryan initially, I knew that I wanted to work with him. His knowledge about collegiate athletics, the injury that I had sustained a year ago, and his resume were enough to convince me that he could get me to the place I wanted to be.
Ryan took his time to figure out exactly what I wanted out of a program and was open and flexible to anything I wanted to improve on or goal I wanted to reach. Within a week, Ryan had written a full workout routine for me that would last me through the entire Spring and Summer. Week by week he pushed me to be better, and week by week I improved as an athlete. He gave me advice about nutrition, lifting, running, and also about life. Not only did he make me ready for collegiate sports but also continuously coached me on making my life better as well. In the end, I improved my one rep squat max by 20%, my bench press by 15%, my deadlift by 25%, and scored in the top 10 fitness scores on my team in the fall. It was clear in the end that I had made the right decision to work with Ryan and I am more than happy that I did so. He has taught so many lessons that I will continue to use and look back on for the rest of my life. |

Ryan is one of the best CrossFit coaches I have had over my 9 years of doing CrossFit. He is incredibly knowledgeable. He takes the time to get to know members on an individual basis and always makes them feel welcome and capable. He has always taken the time work with everyone on their needs and abilities. He maintains a positive attitude always. He will truly be missed at our gym!

With Ryan's coaching I FINALLY learned double unders and I can do them consistently in a workout. That was huge. I have seen myself add more weight to the bar in all strength movements, which is a big deal to me as I felt I was staying the same for a long time.
Ryan is patient and kind. He will adjust when I’m not feeling well or strong enough that day. He provides insight into why we do things so it makes sense to me. He always check in with how I’m feeling before he jumps into the training plan. Ryan cares, and it shows.

Ryan Tomanocy has been my personal trainer for the last 5 months and in that time I noticed marked improvements to my health and overall well-being. As a Type 1 Diabetic, I previously found it difficult to begin new regimes without serious consequences to the balance of my blood glucose levels. After discussing both my concerns and over all goals with Ryan, he developed a general conditioning and weight training routine coupled with a nutritional program which resulted in immediate improvements. Before meeting with Ryan, my A1C (3 month average blood glucose levels) was 7.8. After just three months of varying conditioning and weight training I had lost 7% body fat, gained 10lbs of muscle mass and my A1C dropped to 6.5!!! SUCCESS.
I found myself looking forward to each new workout. I especially loved Ryan’s laid-back disposition and style. He created exercise regimens that were based on my individual needs. My health issues are at best unstable and I always felt strengthened and empowered by his training, but never pandered or bullied. I am so pleased with the results. I am saddened at my loss but pleased for his future successes. With his knowledge and easy going demeanor, Ryan is sure to be an asset to any fitness program or gym and I am happy to give him my wholehearted endorsement.

I consider working with a personal trainer a true collaborative process. In my opinion, the best trainers possess the following qualities: first and foremost good communication skills, understands a client's goals, offers support and positive encouragement, has the ability to effectively assess a client's progress, and has a thorough knowledge and the ability to incorporate a variety of training techniques.
Without a doubt, Ryan Tomanocy possesses all these qualities... and more. My sessions with Ryan were not only effective and produced measurable results, but totally enjoyable. Ryan is THE consummate professional.
